We are pleased to announce that the University of Szczecin with the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznań, and the University of Pisa are co-organising an international conference session at the 32nd Annual Meeting of the European Association of Archaeologists (EAA 2026) in Athens.
Collective Burial Traditions: Architecture, Memory, and the Social Life of the Dead
This session focuses on collective burial practices in prehistory, funerary architecture, materiality, and the social role of memory. We invite scholars working in archaeology, bioarchaeology, spatial analysis, and theoretical archaeology, including approaches grounded in memory studies, personhood, and material agency, from the Near East to Central Europe.
Abstract submission deadline: 5 February 2026
